The Winona R-III School District extend it sincere gratitude to Leon Thornton and the family of Joan Thornton for their generous donation of $100,000, in honor of Mrs. Thornton's more than 40 years of dedicated service to the District and her lifelong commitment to public education.
This gift will be invested in a certificate of deposit, and the annual interest earned will fund a scholarship for a student pursuing a career and education. Through this meaningful contribution, students will continue to benefit for generations to come, while Mrs. Thornton's legacy of service and dedication to education lives on through future educators.
